POST SURGERY AND RECOVERY
Heal faster. Reduce swelling. Move easier.
Safe, at-home Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) — to improve tissue oxygenation and microcirculation, calm inflammation/oedema, support cellular (mitochondrial) energy, collagen formation & angiogenesis, and wound/skin healing; ease post-operative pain & stiffness; and speed bone, ligament & muscle repair after orthopaedic, abdominal, dental or cosmetic surgery, sprains, strains, fractures or sports injuries — with a tailored plan and unlimited sessions.
Recovery that meets you where you are.
Tender incisions that tug when you move.
Swelling/oedema that won’t settle, bruising that lingers.
Stiffness and a limited range of motion; tight scars and aching muscles.
That sharp, throbbing pain around the wound. Nerve tingling or numbness after injury.
Low energy and brain fog after anaesthetic or pain meds.
Shallow breaths because coughing hurts; sleep that won’t restore.
Good days followed by setbacks when you do a little too much.
You want comfort, privacy, and gentle momentum - without the stress of leaving home.
You want fewer “back-to-square-one” days and progress that actually sticks.
We help you build a calmer recovery at home - less swelling, easier movement, and more good days in a row.
How HBOT Helps with Post Surgery and Injury Recovery
Inside a gently pressurised soft-shell chamber, at-home Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) increases oxygen dissolved in your blood plasma and other body fluids. More oxygen reaches healing tissue even when local blood flow is reduced after surgery or injury. This supports:
Better microcirculation & reduced œdema – improved blood flow to tissue helps settle swelling, ease pressure, and make movement more comfortable.
Faster, healthier wound repair – oxygen supports granulation, collagen production and angiogenesis, helping incisions and soft tissue heal and scars mature more favourably.
Calmer inflammation & pain signalling – oxygen availability can help down-regulate inflammatory pathways, supporting comfort.
Stronger cellular (mitochondrial) energy – helpful for post-anaesthetic fatigue and day-to-day stamina.
Tissue resilience – better oxygen tension supports immune function and may reduce the risk of wound complications.
What this can mean day to day
Less swelling and bruising; easier dressing changes and mobility
Softer, better-behaving scars; improved range of motion alongside physio
Reduced tenderness and throbbing pain around the wound
More comfortable breathing/coughing after chest or abdominal surgery
Clearer head, steadier energy, and more restorative sleep
Fewer setbacks when you increase activity gradually
HBOT is an adjunct to your surgical/medical care, not a replacement for it.

Benefits of At-Home HBOT for Neurological Recovery & Dysautonomia
-
Supports Wound & Tissue Healing
Oxygen-rich conditions help the body lay down granulation tissue, stimulate collagen and gentle angiogenesis (new capillaries), and support immune defences. Better microcirculation/perfusion (blood flow to tissue) helps surgical and injury sites progress through each healing phase more smoothly.
-
Less Swelling & Pain, Easier Movement
Improved microcirculation can help settle oedema and local inflammation, easing tightness and soreness so everyday tasks - getting up, washing, gentle stretching and physio - feel more manageable.
-
More Steady Energy & Smoother Rehab
Supporting cellular (mitochondrial) energy can reduce post-op fatigue and stiffness, helping you tolerate graded activity and rehabilitation with fewer setbacks and more consistent progress day to day.
-
Scar, Skin & Soft-Tissue Comfort
Better oxygen delivery supports skin healing after incisions, bruising and soft-tissue injury. Many people notice calmer itch/tightness, softer early scarring, and improved comfort around joints, tendons and ligaments as tissues repair.
-
Better Sleep & Overall Wellbeing at Home
Quiet, private sessions in your own space can lower stress, support sleep quality, and enhance day-to-day quality of life while you recover.

FAQs
-
Yes - HBOT after surgery is used alongside your surgeon’s care to improve tissue oxygenation and microcirculation, calm post-operative inflammation/oedema, and support collagen formation, granulation tissue and angiogenesis (new capillaries). Many people notice more comfort, less swelling and smoother progress through rehab. It’s an adjunct, not a replacement for medical care.
-
The biggest levers are: surgeon’s protocol, protein-rich nutrition, hydration, sleep, early gentle movement, and good wound care. At-home HBOT can support these by improving oxygen delivery to skin, soft tissue and bone while easing swelling - so physio and daily tasks feel more manageable.
-
Always follow your surgeon’s advice. For uncomplicated procedures, therapists commonly start 24–72 hours post-op once you’re stable; for grafts/flaps some clinicians start immediately before and after. If you have drains, fresh grafts, or complications, get explicit clearance first.
-
Most sutures and orthopaedic or dental implants are compatible with mild at-home HBOT. The main absolute contraindication is untreated pneumothorax. Use caution with significant ear/sinus problems or certain medications. We’ll screen you and always defer to your surgeon.
-
Improved microcirculation/perfusion and calmer local inflammation can help oedema and bruising resolve more quickly, which often makes movement, sleep and pain control easier.
-
By supporting collagen synthesis and capillary growth, HBOT helps conditions that favour orderly scar formation. It can’t guarantee keloid prevention, but many people report softer, calmer early scars and improved skin comfort as healing progresses.
-
We deliver, install and test the chamber, train you (and a support person if you like), and provide ongoing support throughout your rental.
-
Relax in a soft-shell chamber while it gently pressurises. You may feel mild ear pressure that eases in minutes. Most people read, listen to music, or nap for 60–90 minutes.
-
No referral is required. We’ll complete a health screen during your consultation and coordinate with your clinician if needed.
-
Pricing is a flat-rate 6-week rental with no per-session fees. In NZ, HBOT is generally not covered by ACC or standard health insurance outside hospital indications.

“I used the Cocoon mHBOT after hip surgery and, while the early effects were subtle and inflammation ticked up briefly in week one, it settled within 1–2 weeks and over 2–3 months I recovered faster - an alternate-day 90-minute routine eased tendon pain, supported wound healing, and seemed to strengthen deep scarring, with no side effects. I’m continuing long-term because it feels safe and genuinely helpful, and I highly recommend Gary -knowledgeable, reassuring, and excellent service.”
